About Us

The International Forum of Higher Education in the MENA region was founded in 2015 by Saltus for Training and Development in cooperation with the Oval Office for Studies and Research.

Mission and Objectives

IFHE aspires to provide a unique opportunity to gather experts from around the globe for a yearly event, whom will provide insights into the appearance of new market trends in higher education, how to climb in the international university ranking systems and what makes a successful higher education institute. The event aims to create a networking platform between international and MENA region universities and institutes to inspire development and investment in the education sector. In addition, the forum wants to stimulate dialogue on the difficulties faced by the higher education sector and assist in the creation of viable and sustainable solutions regarding these issues.

Proposed Topics

There are six main topics proposed at the forum and these are summarized as follows:

  • Standards of global quality and classification of institutions of higher education.
  • The problems and solutions of obtaining funding for higher education institutions.
  • The challenges and obstacles of scientific research.
  • Technical education is a necessity in this day and age.
  • Education is a human right for all.
  • Jordan is a favorable investment climate in the field of higher education.

Keynote Speakers

His Excellency Prof Dr Wajih Mousa Owais

Prof Wajih Owais is the current Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and a Board Member in the Crown Prince Foundation which is chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein. Previously, he was the Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research (February 2011-November 2011) and he was also part of the 26th Jordanian Senate. Dr Owais was the Professor of Genetics, a researcher, Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Abdullah University Hospital, and the President of Jordan University Science and Technology from 2003-2011.

In 1972, he was awarded his BSc in the field of Biology (American University of Beirut) and in 1975 he got his MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Jordan. Subsequently, in 1979 he was awarded a PhD in the field of Molecular Genetics from Washington State University.

Prof Owais was awarded the Commemorative Medal and a Sculpture of Honour by Czech University of Agriculture Prague. He was also awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science from New York Institute of Technology. Dr Owais has a multitude of internationally published research papers and has supervised many postgraduate research students and projects.

Professor Dr Sultan Abu-Orabi Aladwan

Professor Sultan T. Abu-Orabi Aladwan is the Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) also known as the Union of Arab Universities. The AARU is an organization working within the framework of the Arab League established with the mission of “Assisting and coordinating the efforts of Arab Universities to prepare capable persons who can serve their Arab communities and preserve its unified culture and civilization, as well as to assist in developing its natural resources.” Today, the association involves 240 Arab Universities from the different arab countries.

He was previously the president of Irbid National University from 2002 – 2005. In addition, Professor Sultan acts as both the President of the Jordanian Chemical Society and the Secretary General of the Arab Union of Chemists. Previously, he was a Visiting Professor at Bahrain University and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.

With a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Michigan in the USA, Professor Orabi remains an active researcher and scholar who throughout the years have published over 55 journal research papers, 5 book reviews and participated in over 90 conferences at the national, regional and international levels. He is the editor in chief several journals and has served on many International Advisory Boards, and acted as Chair or member of the Scientific and Organization Committees.

Professor Sultan received several honors, awards and grants including the “Jewels of the Muslim World” Award for ‘Top Movers of the Islamic Economics’, presented during the 2nd Muslim World Biz Conference, June 2011; the “Badge of Honor Medal” presented by the International Scientific Partnership Foundation in Russia, for the Development of Science in Jordan and Arab countries and International Collaboration, 2007 and the Distinguished Achievement Alumni Award, Western Michigan University, in 2004 among others.

Professor Dr Ala A. Al Bakri

Professor Al Bakri is the CEHACO CEO, GCTIC Group Chairman of The Board, Professor and US based MSCHE Evaluator. He was also Former Vice President at AlFaisal University and Former Professor at UI, Wisconsin, UC Berkeley and others.

He has a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Project Management from the University of Iowa in the US, He also has certificates in Leadership and Management from Harvard University & the University of California at Berkeley.

He has 30 years of experience as an Adviser, Consultant, Projects Manager, Officer, Assistant, Associate, Full Professor, Dean, Vice Provost and Vice President at The University of Iowa, The University of Wisconsin, University of California at Berkeley, Carleton University in Canada, Jordan University, Mutta University in Jordan, Naif Arab University for Security Science and Alfaisal University in Saudi Arabia. Retired Lt. Col. and Adviser to PSD Director, Jordan.

He has published more than 100 scientific papers and books, supervised several graduate dissertations and thesis, prepared and managed hundreds of studies and reports, received local, regional and international awards. He is a Quality Assurance and Accreditation Evaluator for the US based MSCHE.

Anjum Malik

Anjum is the Managing Partner Alhambra US Chamber, Co-Founder and VP of HOFT Learning Centers and Intensive American English Institute USA and Honorary Ambassador of the Polish Network of Women Entrepreneurship Ambassadors.

Anjum is a global professional with 35+ years of experience in the fields of international education, educational consulting, business development both in the U.S. and internationally. She has built an extensive network of global contacts, which she leverages on behalf of her clients, connecting people and organizations for success. Along with her expertise in strategic planning, market development, negotiation and management, her work with the U.S. and multiple international agencies documents an impressive record of success.

Anjum’s belief in the power of education to improve society is evident in all aspects of her professional life: when she provides oversight for the academic development of international students, scholars and administrators at the Intensive American English Institute; through her global work in the development, consulting and training activities of the Chamber; and, as the expert networker who links others to build the commercial and diplomatic bridges that bring us together to create that brighter future.

The organizations she has created and managed have enhanced the global competence of more than 150,000 students and hundreds of professionals. Within her most nurtured passion - international education - Anjum constantly seeks innovative tools to improve teaching, learning, and access. In all her endeavors, she strives to advance the empowerment of women and their increased participation in the workforce.

Due to Anjum's leadership in education delivery and development, the Chamber was invited to become a member of President Obama's Partners for a New Beginning Initiative.

Dr Suzy Hatough-Bouran

Dr Hatough-Bouran is the CEO- Dar Al-Diafa for Hospitality and Tourism Education Consultancy, UNWTO – TedQual Program Certified Auditor and UNWTO - World Committee for Tourism Ethics Member.

In 2000 Dr Suzy Hatough headed Ammon College for Hospitality and Tourism Education for four years, then later established Dar AlDiafa for Hospitality and Tourism Education Consultancy in 2009 in Amman, Jordan. Dar AlDiafa Consultancy is specialized in offering academic and professional services aiming at enhancing the capacities and skills of tourism human resources to contribute to the tourism industry development in Jordan and the Middle East Region.

Dar AlDiafa Consultancy operates in cooperation with local and international experts from the education and training sector and professionals form the tourism industry and other economic sectors.

Dar AlDiafa Consultancy has conducted several consultancy projects in Jordan, including research and capacity building in cooperation with USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project since 2009 till now with USAID – Building Economic Sustainability in Tourism (BEST). The consultancy is affiliated to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) since 2011, and has been commissioned to execute several regional projects focusing on tourism sustainable development though empowering people in Algeria, Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Dr Suzy Hatough-Bouran is a certified UNWTO TedQual Program Auditor for Quality Assurance and has conducted auditing missions in Europe and the Far East. She is currently an appointed member of the UNWTO-World Committee for Tourism Ethics to promote and implement the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism since 2013 until present.

Prof Dr Abdullah A. Abonamah

Dr Abonamah is a Professor of Technology and Innovation and the President & Provost of Abu Dhabi School of Management/ UAE Academy, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. The School’s academic, research, and supporting programs achieve a macro-level, strategic alignment with the Abu Dhabi Policy Agenda of 2007/2008, and the mandate of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce- both of which serve as proactive engines of sustainable socio-economic growth for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As the President, Dr Abonamah provides leadership to achieve ADSM’s mission and goals as established by the Board of Trustees. In addition to addressing institutional challenges and identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.

Dr Abonamah is a Senior Business, technology, and education Executive who has been involved in many strategic educational, technological, and business initiatives. These initiatives focus on strategic management, innovation, quality management, entrepreneurship, knowledge and technology transfer, and service management.

Prior to coming to the ADSM/ UAE Academy in November 2007, Dr Abonamah was the Executive Director of the Institute for Technological Innovation at Zayed University. He also served as the founding Assistant Dean of the College of Information Systems at Zayed University. From 1989-2000, Dr Abonamah was a tenured Professor at the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio.

With his unique background as an educator, a business strategist, and a researcher, Dr Abonamah has conducted many strategy and organizational transformation workshops for various SMEs in the Gulf region and has been invited to speak at many national and international conferences, and panel discussions. He has over fifty publications in international journals and conferences and a US patent in reliable computer systems.

Dr Abonamah remains a strong advocate of education as a tool to transform and enrich people’s lives, make organizations more efficient and productive, and contribute to economic development.

Dr Amal Jamil Fatani

Dr. Amal Fatani is the Head of the TATA All Women Business Processing Services Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Previously she served as Consultant and General Supervisor of Female Affairs at the Ministry of Education- Higher Education in Saudi Arabia. This was a culmination of several leadership positions that helped Dr. Fatani attain vast experience in Education as well as setting up, managing and ensuring the growth of female Centers at the Ministry as well as at King Saud University where she was appointed Chair of the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department, going on to becoming the first Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy, then serving as the first Dean of the Center for Scientific and Medical studies, encompassing nine collages (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Allied Medical Sciences, Health Diplomas, Computer Sciences, Agriculture and Nutrition, and Basic Sciences), before going on to set up the female sectors in the Ministry. She is a board member of Saudi Research Science Institute at King Abdula University for Science and Technology, plus for several years a part time Consultant with King Abdulaziz and his companion’s foundation for giftedness and creativity "Mawhiba". She has participated in several of the workshops held in conjunction between the Ministry of Labor and Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University regarding Higher Education & the Job Market. Dr Amal participated in several national & international events with the Human Rights Commission, as well as national events with the Narcotic Control division at the Ministry of Interior. She was head of a joint research Twinning Program with Yale University, in addition to being an adjunct scientist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital. She has participated actively in a variety of multidisciplinary Saudi research groups, presenting at both national and International conferences and symposia on topics pertinent to her specialization or related to her passion: Building the Knowledge based Economy through preparedness of Saudi Youth.

Dr. Amal Fatani holds a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The University of Strathclyde, UK. Prior to her PhD she obtained both her Master`s and Bachelor`s degrees in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the College of Pharmacy at King Saudi University, Saudi Arabia where she is currently an Associate.

Dr Joseph Ruddy

Dr Ruddy is a Team Leader at USAID Tourism Development Projects working on USAID Building Economic Sustainability Through Tourism (USAID BEST) project.

He is a senior project manager and international development specialist in workforce development, education and training development, quality assurance and industry development in tourism with extensive experience in international tourism sector management, education reform and development, and tourism marketing. He holds a Ph.D, Master of Arts, Bachelor of Science and numerous Diplomas. Currently serving as the Human Resources, Quality Assurance & Sector Development Component Leader for USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project (2008–present).

Prior to the present position he was Human Resource and Sector Development Component Leader, USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project (2005 – 2008) leading projects in workforce and tourism sector development. Further experience in Jordan includes provision of technical management and support under the USAID/AMIR (2003-2004) for the development and implementation of a master development plan for the Jordan Applied University– College of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Presently serves as chairman of Jordan National Partnership for Practical Training in Tourism, member of Public Private Partnership Committee for Vocational Training Corporation, member of National Tourism Industry Academic Steering Committee (Chaired by Minister of Higher Education) and member of Board Trustees, Madaba Institute for Mosaic Art & Restoration.

Parallel and prior to entering direct international development, Joseph Ruddy spent over 25 years in education development and management. He has implemented tourism projects in the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa for donors including USAID, World Bank and the European Union. He has written and presented over 140 research studies on the tourism industry, and human resource and education development.

Professor Dr Omar Shdeifat

Dr Omar Shdeifat currently holds the position of Chairman of the board for Altawan educational and Consultation Company in Jordan. His Excellency Dr Omar Shdeifat was the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 2007-2009.

He was the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, before he was appointed to this position in 2007. HE Dr Shdeifat served as president of Hashemite University from 2004 to 2007. He served on the University’s Board of Trustees, as well as on the Board of Trustees for the “King Abdullah II Prize for Creative Writing.” Dr Shdeifat is a member of the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA), and The Council of Higher Education. He has authored more than thirty research papers and published books in the field of academic research, higher education, and university affairs.

His Excellency Dr Sabri Saidam

Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr Sabri Saidam was educated in Britain with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine; and a certification in Human development from Oxford University.

He became the youngest serving minister since the establishment of the Palestine National Authority. He's also the youngest serving minister of Education and Higher Education.

His Excellency served as the Executive Chairman of Partners for Sustainable Development -NETKETABI. He is a founding member of Partners for New Beginning - Palestine Chapter and also served as a senior lecturer at Birzeit and Khadouri Universities on Innovation Management. He has also served as an Advisor to the Palestinian President on Telecommunications, Information Technology and Technical Education. Furthermore, he is a former minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology and a Board member of Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy (PIPD). Dr Saidam is a founding and ex-board member of the Palestine Education for Employment Foundation www.efefoundation.org and he also led the telecom market liberalization in Palestine by introducing the second mobile phone operator. He led the introduction and ratification of the Palestine Telecom Regulatory Authority (PTRA) law and introduced a series of initiatives including the e¬Government Initiative, the National Academic Network, Falastinyia (enhancing women participation in the ICT market), Palestine Education Initiative (PEl); with a wide international partnership. He also co-enhanced Cisco's role in Palestine which led to the establishment of its $10m investment initiative. Mr Saidam helped launch .PS and its governing body, the Palestinian National Internet Naming Authority (PNINA). He founded the award winning Palestine Digital Library in 2004 and the Palestine e-Republic in 2007 and also co-founded the Internet Society-Palestine Chapter {ISOC¬PS}, PC & Net 4 All (for providing PCs and internet connectivity to deprived citizens) and the Birzeit Innovation Group {BIG}, for innovation and technology.

Professor Dr Maher Salim

Prof Maher Salim began his academic career by graduating with a PhD in Biochemistry from Dublin University in 1989. Since then, he has been awarded an honorary PhD in business administration (Royal College for Professional Technology, Ireland) and another honorary PhD in Economics and Business management by Oxford College for PhD studies.

As an academic, Prof Salim was appointed Assistant Professor at Al-Ahliyya Amman University (Jordan) in 1991 and quickly moved up in ranks becoming Vice Dean of Medical Science Department followed by being appointed President of the university in 2005. He was also appointed as the President of Middle East University in Jordan (2012-2016).

Professor, Dr. Eid Dahiyat

Eid Dahiyat attended the University of Jordan, where he earned a BA in English literature, graduating first in the class of 1967. Dahiyat worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of English Literature at the University of Jordan from 1968 to 1970, which was followed by a Fulbright scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning his MA and PhD by 1973.

Dahiyat served in numerous academic positions in Jordan. He taught as a professor at the University of Jordan’s English department, before being promoted to dean and later to vice president of the University of Jordan’s academic affairs. This was followed by the positions of founding president of Al-Ahliyya Amman University and an eight-year role as the president of Mutah University from 1997 to 2005. Dahiyat also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Amman Arab University, Applied Science Private University and currently holds this position at Mutah University.

Dahiyat is a prominent Arabic academic in the field of Renaissance Literature and has written over 40 papers on the topic published in American and British Research journals, and is the author of 4 books in both Arabic and English.

Eid Dahiyat was appointed Jordan’s Minister of Youth in Prime Minister Zaid al-Rifai’s Cabinet in 1986, and Jordan’s Minister of Education in 1991. More recently, he was appointed as minister of Education and Deputy Prime Minister in 2011.

Professor Dr Marwan Kamal

The President of Philadelphia University (Jordan) since 2005, Prof. Kamal completed his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and also attained an MBA in management from the University of Minnesota. His numerous appointments include Vice President of University of Jordan (1986), Minister of Agriculture (1993, Jordan), President of Yarmouk University (1994, Jordan), and Senator in the Upper House of Parliament (Jordan).

Professor Kamal was awarded the Chevalier dans l’ordre de la Legion d’Honneur (France) medal and the medal of Planet of the First Order (Jordan) in recognition of all his contributions. His academic output includes many articles in internationally recognised scientific journals as well as contributions towards 28 U.S., European and Japanese patents.

Professor Dr Issam Zabalawi

Dr. Zabalawi was born in Amman, Jordan (1950) and he received his BSc. honours with distinction in electrical engineering (1974) from Cairo University (Egypt), and his MSc. with distinction and PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Leeds University (England in 1976 and 1979).

Dr. Zabalawi is a previous Minister of a member of Higher Education and Scientific Research serving from 2003-2005. His numerous appointments include the President of International University for Science And Technology (IUST, 2005-2007), Chancellor of the University of Sharjah (1999-2003), Chairman of the Higher Education Accreditation Council of Jordan (1999), Vice-President (Scientific and Medical Faculties) of the University of Jordan (1996) and Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Dept. of the College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (1994).

He is an active member in the Arab Thought Forum and a member of the World Affairs Council-Jordan and he is a member of the administrative committee of the Jordanian Academicians Society.

As’ad Abdul Rahman

Born in Jerusalem in 1944, As’ad Abdul Rahman achieved his BA in Public Administration from the American University of Beruit (1965); in 1977 he became an independent member of the Palestine National Council and in 1979 in the Palestine Central Council, and he still holds this status to date.
Mr. Abdul Rahman authored 19 books and more than 46 refereed academic studies dealing with different aspects of Comparative Government, International Politics, Palestine issue, the Zionist Movement, the Arab Israeli politics. He is also a regular contributor for the last 35 years to various Arab newspapers.

As’ad became the second Director General of the Abdul Hamid Shoman Foundation in 1981, and was appointed to its Board of Directors in 1997. He is a founding member of the Board of the Palestinian Independent Commission of Citizens Rights (The Palestinian Ombudsman).

He held the Head of the PA’s Higher Council for Refugee Camps; resigned in July 2000, saying he is unwilling to take the responsibility for the Camp David results on the refugee issues.

Professor Sultan Abu-Orabi Aladwan

As the current Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (Jordan), Prof. Aladwan has an extensive list of appointments and experience under his name. Graduating with a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Michigan, his academic career includes appointments in the University of Michigan (USA), Yarmouk University (Jordan) and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KSA).

Prof. Aladwan was also appointed as the president of three different universities which include Irbid National University (Jordan, 2002-2005), Tafila Technical University (Jordan, 2005-2009) and Yarmouk University (Jordan, 2009-2011).

Professor Dr. Rida A. Shibli

In 1980 Dr. Shibli finished high school successfully in the scientific stream, and attended the University of Jordan immediately where he received a B.Sc. in Plant Production in 1984. After that, Dr. Shibli attended the M.Sc. program at the University of Jordan in Plant Physiology in the period 1984-1986. Dr. Shibli received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois, USA in 1988 in plant biotechnology. He then pursued his Post Doctorate studies from Sept. 1990 to June 1991 at the Department of Applied Sciences, Langston University.

Dr. Shibli’s distinguished academic achievements reflect in a significant number of research papers (about 145 papers), abstracts, a book; where he also was involved in organizing International conferences, events and workshops. He received a number of prizes, awards and research grants.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Shibli occupied many key administrative positions at different academic institutions in Jordan. Dr. Shibli is currently Vice President for Scientific Faculties and Institutions at the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. He is also the President of the University of Jordan Branch at Aqaba, Jordan. Dr. Shibli is an Assistant President of Jordan Society for Scientific Research. Currently Dr. Shibli holds the position of President of Mu’tah University since 2013.

Amjad Bahjat Shammout

Amjad Bahjat Shammout has worked for 20 years at national and international levels advocating human rights and combating cultural tolerance and peace. A graduate with a PhD in International Law in 2012, and a member of the Jordanian Association of Jurists as well as a Military Judge since 2003.

Amjad Shammout former Jordanian Judge and the President and founder for the Arab Bridge Center for Human Rights, a non-governmental organization has been a major stakeholder and implementer of change in the local and international communities.

Mr. Shammout has participated in several local, regional and international conferences in the field of human rights issues. He is the author of several books in the field of human rights and terrorism, tolerance and dialogue. As well as a presenter on various radio programs speaking on subjects such as legal and human rights issues globally and locally.

His advocacy and leadership in human rights has led to many neutral, independent and transparent investigations, with the participation of the judiciary and civil society to ensure justice and transparency.

Professor Dr Mohammad Ahmad Alhajj

Dr Mohammad Ahmad Alhajj is an elected member of the Parliamentary House of Representatives, where he serves as the Chairman of the Education Committee. Over the course of ten years, Dr Alhajj completed his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Islamic Studies. He then took up multiple teaching positions to later become a Lecturer at the University of Jordan from 1998-2007.

Dr Alhajj was a part of many successful business ventures, such as Alzarqa Corporation for Teaching and Investment (CEO, 1992-2005), the Board of Trustees of Alzarqa University (Vice President, 1994), the Board of Directors of Alfurqan Schools (Chairman, 1996) and the Board of Directors of the Corporation of Academics for Publishing and Distribution (Chairman, 2004).

Professor Dr Maher Salim

Prof. Dr. Maher Salim began his academic career by graduating with a PhD in Biochemistry from Dublin University in 1989. Since then, he has been awarded an honorary PhD in business administration (Royal college for Professional Technology, Ireland) and another honorary PhD in Economics and Business management by Oxford College for PhD studies.

As an academic, Prof. Salim was appointed Assistant Professor at Al-Ahliyya Amman University (Jordan) in 1991 and quickly moved up in ranks becoming Vice Dean of Medical Science Department followed by being appointed President of the university in 2005. Currently, Prof. Salim is the President of Middle East University in Jordan.

Professor Dr Dia-Eddin Arafat

Prof. Arafat is currently the President of Al Albayt University (Jordan) and he was appointed by the Council of Higher Education (Jordan) in 2014. As a Professor of Solid State Physics, Prof. Arafat completed his PhD in the University of Sussex, England in 1984.

Prof. Arafat’s academic appointments include Chairman of the Physics Department at Al-Hashemite University (1989-1999) and the University of Jordan (2003-2004). He was then quickly promoted to Vice Dean (2004) and subsequently Dean (2005) of the Faculty of Science at the University of Jordan. He also had a positive impact on many developmental projects at the University of Jordan, becoming Dean of Academic Research (2005-2007), Vice President for Development, Planning and Quality Assurance (2007-2008) and Vice President for Scientific Faculties and institutions (2008-2010).

Ambassador Ahmad Salameh Al-lozi

Ahmad Salameh Al-lozi, is a retired Major-General from the Army. After his retirement with a highly successful career in the military, Ahmad Al-lozi was assigned an Ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2005 – 2008. His educational history includes three Bachelor degrees in Law, Military Science and Management as well as two Masters degrees in Military Science and Management.

Furthermore, Ambassador Al-lozi was a board member in a number of bodies including the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan (3 years) and the Faculty of Education at the Defence College (3 years). Throughout his service he has been granted the honour of many awards and medals, including the Al Nahda Medal, Order of Independence Medal and The Order of the Star of Jordan medal to name a few.

Ms. Abu Al Samen confirmed that one of the JNFW’s objectives is to empower the Jordanian women to participate in the social, political, economical, educational, environmental and healthy issues.

Professor Mahmood Al-Tarawneh

Dr. Saeb Al-Hasan

Dr Al-Hasan is the Fund director and Manager of Developmental Projects at King Abdullah II Fund for Development. He was also previously the Director General in the We Are All Jordan Youth Commission from 2008-2013.

A graduate of Law from the University of Jordan he made a big contribution as Head of Contracts & Legal Follow-Up at the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation (1997-2002) which allowed him to be appointed as Manager of Projects & Programs at King Abdullah II for development (2002-2008).

Saqr Alkharabsheh

His professional experience demonstrates a long running history of international business contribution and cooperation with Middle Eastern government organisations signifying successful leadership and drive in the education sector.

Saqr has over 8 years involvement in the local and global education sector. He is the Managing Director & General Manager of Amman – Sydney, the Oval Office for Studies and Research, which has been established in 1991 and is the first recruitment company in Jordan accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. His role includes oversight of all international collaborations and partnerships, including recruitment, institutional relationships, strategy and policy, and 3rd party relationships.

Mr. Alkharabsheh has established new centres and commissioned the expansion of the company into different parts of the worlds, where he can address and facilitate student and education sector needs.

Basel Ibrahim Tarawneh

Mr Basel Tarawneh is currently the Chairman of the Governmental Committee responsible for following up on Human Rights Recommendations. From the period of 1994 to 2000, Mr Tarawneh held different positions at the Prime Ministry including Assistant Head of the Parliamentary and Political Affairs Section, Secretary of the Ministerial Committee for Drafting the Speech of the Throne and Head of the Human Rights Unit.

Amongst his non-governmental endeavours, are his appointments as Consultant and Executive Director of Al-Arab Al-Youm for Press and Media, Director General of Al Bilad newspaper and Director General of the Jordanian Media Center. More recently, he was appointed by the Prime Minister as a governmental Coordinator for Human Rights (2014), and has since been a member of many committees including Developing the National Comprehensive Human Rights Plan, National Team for Family Protection against Violence and Jordanian National Committee for Women’s Affairs.

Mr Mohammad Barakat Altarawneh

Mr Mohammad Altarawneh has extensive expertise in the Media industry, spanning more than 20 years. He is the current General Manager of the Radio and Television Corporation in Jordan.

Mr Altarawneh has been involved the coverage of major news events and conferences as well as the coverage of internal activities by His Highness the late King Hussein. Mohammad Altarawneh also prepared and presented multiple political discussion programmes, covered the Parliamentary elections for 18 years and was deeply involved in the coverage of the Iraq-Iran war and the events in the West Bank and Gaza.
